| I love visiting places like this... |
That's not to say I won't enjoy the journey there - journeys are very important - but so are destinations. So what do I need to be doing to feel more alive? What do I need to have in my life to feel that it’s exciting? In the past, what was I doing when I was having fun and really enjoying life?
There's no real contest here. My number one source of excitement is holidaying, exploring new places, feeling that I’m having a wonderful adventure and relaxing away from the daily grind. Hardly surprising as the first major exciting thing I started thinking about and took action on after starting this blog was booking a holiday to a different continent, exploring some of it by foot.
So hey, I’m doing quite well – I have some major fun and excitement to look forward to! The sad news is that I can’t unfortunately afford to holiday like that very often. The next question therefore is, how can I get the same feeling of holidaying and exploring without breaking the bank and taking transatlantic flights so that I could enjoy it more often?
The obvious answer is that I just need to scale things down quite a bit and make it more affordable; day trips to the seaside, hiking in the Home Counties and exploring those parts of London that I don’t know that well. Brixton may not be quite the same as San Francisco but certainly can be explored. There’s my plan of action for tomorrow – exploring London.
So have a think – what brings most excitement into your life and how could you get more of it?
